It looked like Dicky could be a great. But after a lost title fight against Sugar Ray Leonard, the boy from the working-class town of Lowell spirals downwards. His younger brother Micky tries to follow in Dicky's footsteps, but loses fight after fight. Only when his fiancée Charlene manages to persuade him to break away from his family, his broken brother and his relentless mother, does he make a career. When he gets the chance to fight for the world title, Micky reaches out to his family for reconciliation.
