The whole family had been looking forward to it: The Shaws have traveled from the USA to go on a joint sailing trip off the Spanish coast. But what begins as a dream vacation quickly turns into a life-threatening nightmare when son Will returns to the rented sailing yacht after a shore excursion and finds only bloodstains and evidence of a struggle instead of his family. Beside himself with worry, Will asks the local police for help, but they seem to be involved in the incidents. Before they can also get Will into their power, his father Martin appears out of nowhere and comes to his aid. It is quite obvious that the rest of the family members have been abducted by secret agents who are after a briefcase that is in Martin's possession. Will learns this from a mysterious CIA agent who pretends to be his father's colleague and offers him her help. Will doesn't trust her, but has to realize that his father not only works as a business consultant like himself, but leads a double life.
