Gru desperately wants to become the world's greatest villain. To achieve this, he plans to steal the moon. For this, he needs a machine that shrinks the moon to pocket size. Unfortunately, this machine is in the possession of his arch-nemesis Vector. The three orphan girls Agnes, Edith, and Margo are supposed to get it for Gru. Initially, the three are just a means to an end for Gru, but soon he feels more for the lively trio.
